ATTENDANCE DUES Attendance dues are compulsory under the terms of the Integration Act and are determined, from time to time, by the Proprietor and approved by the Minister of Education. The money goes into a Diocesan Common Fund, together with Attendance Dues from other schools in the Diocese and is used to service debt incurred in meeting Integration building costs. These charges are subject to change and are inclusive of GST. ACTIVITY FEES Activity Fees are charged in areas of the curriculum where monies are required for specific additional resources which students may take home to keep e.g. subject work books. CONTRIBUTIONS These are voluntary donations which do not include GST and which qualify for a tax rebate General Purposes Contribution The General Purposes Contribution is requested by the Board of Trustees to supplement the Operational Grant provided by the Government. It enables us to provide curricular and extra curricular resources for our students to experience education in depth and breadth which would otherwise not be possible. In general, we meet approximately 50% of our costs from locally raised funds of which this parental contribution represents just under half. Proprietor’s Operating Contribution The Proprietor’s Operating Contribution is requested by the Proprietor under the terms of the Integration Act (Section 37). It is used for any capital. Contribution works/maintenance of the College, Special Character and other purposes as may be decided by the Proprietor. This fund is managed on behalf of the Sisters of Mercy by Carmel College Auckland Limited. Special Character Contribution A contribution requested by the Catholic Education Office to fund expenses and salaries for advisors in Religious Education. Development Contribution A Development Contribution is requested by the Board of Trustees and Carmel College Auckland Limited under the terms of the Integration Act (Section 37). It is used to fund the Building Programme as outlined in the Property Development Plan. 2012 plans include new Music, Drama and Information Technology teaching spaces, Performing Arts Centre and Library. Where there are two daughters from one family attending Carmel College the account for the second student will have a discount of $100.00 per year i.e. $25.00 per term. deducted from the above amounts. Where there are three or more daughters from one family there will be a discount of $300.00 per year i.e. $75.00 per term. These discounts apply only when the account is paid in full.
Deposit A $100.00 deposit is payable at the time of enrolment. This will be refunded if the enrolment application is unsuccessful. However if your application is successful the deposit will be deducted off the Term 1 fees. These Term 1 fees will be payable by 16th September in the preceding year.
