How To Select Subjects for 2024

2024 Subject Selection via the Carmel Portal is available HERE 

Please contact sodonnell@carmel.school.nz if you have any queries in regards to how to select subjects on the Carmel Portal.

Option subjects can only be chosen via the Carmel Portal through Parent/Caregiver access and not through Student access. This is to ensure that Parents/Caregivers have approved the subject choices.

To select subjects please follow the steps below:

  1. Login to https://kamar.carmel.school.nz/index.php
  2. The username is your daughter’s ID number and the password has been emailed to you previously, which you may have changed to one of your own making.
  3. If you have forgotten/misplaced your login details, please email sodonnell@carmel.school.nz to request your password.
  4. Once in the Carmel Portal, you will see a menu bar running along the top. Select ‘Course Selection’.
  5. Once in the Course Selection screen, you will be prompted to select the required number of courses for the year level that your child will be entering in 2023. Please ensure that you make a selection in each column. Refer to the instructions above the subject names. This will explain how many subjects you are to choose, etc. If you require more information about a course please refer to the 2024 Course Information Guide 
  6. Please remember to click ‘SAVE’ at the bottom of the screen when you have completed your selection. You can re-enter this screen and change the subjects selected if needed. Remember to click ‘SAVE’ again when finished.

Please Note:

2024 Year 9 – only ONE subject to be chosen

2024 Year 10 – only THREE subjects to be chosen

2024 Year 11 – subject choices consist of FOUR Compulsory subjects plus THREE Optional subjects

2024 Year 12 – subject choices consist of TWO Compulsory subjects plus FIVE Optional subjects

2024 Year 13 – subject choices consist of ONE Compulsory subject plus FIVE Optional subjects

Compulsory subjects for 2024 are:

Year 11 Compulsory Subjects:

  • English OR English as an additional language
  • Mathematics
  • Science OR Science Applied
  • Religious Studies

Year 12 Compulsory Subjects:

  • English OR English as an additional language
  • Religious Studies

Year 13 Compulsory Subjects:

  • Religious Studies
