Looking for a role that fits around school holidays? Carmel College is seeking an organised and practical Technology Department Coordinator to support our Food and Materials Technology programmes. This is an ideal opportunity for someone returning to the workforce or seeking meaningful part-time work in a supportive school environment.
This varied, hands-on role supports teaching and learning across Food amd Materials Technology and other technology learning areas by ensuring specialist classrooms are well organised, fully resourced, safe and ready for practical learning. Working closely with teachers, you will prepare resources and equipment, coordinate purchasing, maintain stock levels, and ensure high standards of hygiene and food safety are consistently maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate purchasing and ordering of food, classroom resources and consumables.
- Conduct stocktakes and maintain inventory levels to ensure resources are available when required.
- Prepare ingredients, equipment and student workstations for practical lessons.
- Maintain classroom equipment and learning resources.
- Reset classrooms after practical lessons and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation.
- Maintain safe food handling practices, including correct food storage, stock rotation, allergen management and prevention of cross-contamination.

About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Is highly organised with excellent time management skills.
- Enjoys practical, hands-on work and has strong attention to detail.
- Can work independently while building positive relationships with staff and students.
- Has good computer skills and is confident using online ordering systems and Google Workspace.
- Takes initiative and is able to manage competing priorities.
- Has an understanding of food safety and safe work practices.
- Is reliable, flexible and committed to maintaining high standards.
Experience in food preparation, hospitality, education support, stock management or a technology learning environment would be an advantage, but is not essential.
Additional Requirements
The successful applicant will be required to
- Support and uphold the Special Character and Mercy values of the College
- Hold a current New Zealand driver licence
- Undergo and satisfy a Police Vetting process
- Meet all requirements under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014, including being deemed suitable to work with young people.
