From the Principal

Over the past two weeks, our school calendar has been packed with exciting events, and it’s been wonderful to see so much activity and community spirit within our school.

I would like to begin by congratulating our Year 13 students for a spectacular ball. It was a memorable evening full of laughter, dancing, and lasting memories. The students looked stunning, and it was truly a night to remember. A big thank you to all involved in making it such a special event.

Last week, we celebrated Māia Week, a powerful reminder of our school value of māia – courage. This week gave our students an opportunity to reflect on what it means to trust in God, advocate for themselves and others, and embrace new experiences with confidence. The week ended on a high note with our school glowing in pink for Pink Shirt Day. This day served as a strong stand against bullying and was a beautiful display of unity and kindness. Our students were reminded that in advocating for others, we are all called to be upstanders, not bystanders.

Two weeks ago, we held parent-teacher interviews for students in Years 7 to 11. We were pleased with the high level of engagement, with a large number of appointments booked across the evening. An impressive 92% of Year 7 students had interviews booked by parents and caregivers, followed by 81% in Year 8, 74% in Years 9 and 10, and 55% in Year 11. We value the importance of these conversations in supporting student learning and wellbeing. Although the interviews were held on one evening, please remember that if you ever have any questions or concerns regarding your daughter’s progress, you are always welcome to reach out to her core learning group teacher (for Years 7 and 8) or her dean.

This week, our Year 11 students have taken part in their retreats and wellbeing days, giving them an important chance to pause, reflect, and connect with themselves and each other. Next week, the Year 10 students will have their own retreat and wellbeing days, giving them the same valuable opportunity for reflection and personal growth.

As the week wraps up, we are excited to look forward to the Year 13 production, which opens this weekend. While we wish the cast and crew luck and to “break a leg,” we also want them to enjoy the experience and showcase the results of all their hard work and talent on stage. I encourage as many people as possible to support the production and know it will be an outstanding display of creativity.

Winter sports are in full swing, and it’s fantastic to see so many students involved, whether they are playing or supporting their peers. Seeing the sidelines of supporters provides so much encouragement to those playing and our school spirit in the cheers truly makes a difference.

With so much going on, it’s important to remember that we are in the winter term, and it’s a time when we all need to take extra care of ourselves. Please remind your daughter to take the time to plan ahead, prioritize her commitments, and, most importantly, get enough rest. This means putting devices away, particularly social media, at least 30 minutes to an hour before bedtime. If your daughter is feeling unwell, encourage her to take the time she needs to rest and recover.

Additionally, as the weather cools, please ensure that your daughter is wearing her school uniform correctly and with pride. It’s a reflection of the values we hold as a school, and we appreciate your ongoing support in helping uphold those standards.

Finally, thank you for your continued support and partnership in your daughter’s learning journey. We are grateful for the way our parent community engages with school life – whether it’s attending events, supporting from the sidelines, or simply encouraging your daughters day to day.
