North Shore Mathex Competition

At the end of Term 2, twenty four Y7 and Y8 Carmel students went to Northcross Intermediate School to participate in the North Shore Mathex competition. The competition involves students from different schools from across the North Shore competing in teams to answer Maths problems.

Each team consisted of four members, including one runner. The runner’s job was to help answer the questions, collect them and run as fast as they can to the markers. Carmel did not place but two Y7 teams and one Y8 team were awarded prizes for being the most respectful runners.

The competition was quite intense but an amazing experience. Our top Carmel teams will be participating in the Auckland competition in August. Wish us luck!
