Celebrating New Zealand Music Month

Monday 24th May Carmel held a performance to celebrate New Zealand Music Month.

We had a range of amazing and incredible singing performances from Year 13 Carmel senior music students. Simone Lopes performed a cover of ‘Xanny’ by Billie Ellish and ‘Sweater Weather’ by the Neighbourhood. Aislinn Taylor performed a beautiful cover of ‘When He Sees Me’ From The Waitress musical.

We were also stoked to debut the Carmel and Rosmini senior band, Chef’s Kiss, who got the crowd up on their feet as they performed ‘Can’t Stop’ by Red Hot Chilli Peppers, ‘Take It Easy’ by Stan Walker followed by a highly demanded encore in which they performed ‘Ain’t it Fun’ by Paramore.

We were so grateful to support young talented musicians within our community and can’t wait to see more performances throughout the year!

Performers (some of whom are pictured above) were: Meryll Malabanan, Charisse Carlos, Serena Burke, Isabelle Pabalan, Sindy Feng, Connor Gibbs, Shewon Fernando and Aaron Fialho.

‘Thank you for the music, the songs I’m singing

Thanks for all the joy they’re bringing

Who can live without it? I ask in all honesty

What would life be?

Without a song or a dance, what are we?

So I say thank you for the music

For giving it to me’ ~ ABBA
