I hope all of our young women had a great break and took the opportunity to relax and refresh in preparation for Term 3. I would like to mention one team of students, staff and parents whose term break included a week in Canberra competing in a football competition. Please do read the write up in the newsletter about the tournament and the outstanding success the team achieved, representing themselves and our college.
As the new term begins and we start to look ahead, we encourage our young women to set goals and make the most of the opportunities available to them, but we also need to be mindful that for many, particularly our seniors, this is the final full term of academic learning before NCEA external examinations.
To support this, and encourage our young women to reflect and set goals, it is important that we are mindful of how full students’ daily lives and weeks are. A valuable task to do with your daughter is to complete a log of what a ‘typical’ week looks like, and ensure that there is balance between her academic, physical, spiritual and wellbeing needs. Often when this task has been completed by students they can visually see how they utilise the time they have during the week, and for some it serves as a reminder to ensure that whilst at school they are making the most of their class time.
Below is a simplified snapshot of what a week could look like, whilst we also consider travel times to and from school that many of our students encounter each day. Last week a broadcast with key information for the term was sent to parents, caregivers and students. Please see the link to the broadcast if you did not receive the email, and please ensure that you contact the office should any contact details require updating.
In Week 3 we have our Special Catholic Character review from Tuesday 6 August to Thursday 8 August. The review team has created a questionnaire for our community to complete. Please see the link to the questionnaire HERE. We would appreciate if you could please take the time to assist the review team in completing the questionnaire.
One reminder that was left out of the broadcast, is that during this term and as winter draws to an end, ills and chills remain prevalent. So whilst mindful of students’ attendance, we ask that as required students remain home when unwell. Whilst our school nurse, Mrs Mary-Anne Benson-Cooper, is able to attend to students, we also want to remind our community that the sick bay is not able to provide unlimited supplies of cough and throat lozenges, or paracetamol.
As we begin Term 3 and quickly settle into routines following the term break, we look forward to a successful term for our young women as we support them with setting their goals, making a plan and putting it into action, so that they continue to develop the knowledge and skills to be empowered young woman who will challenge and shape their future.
