My Goodness Bags: Designing With Heart for Our Community

Year 11 Food Technology students have been hard at work developing their ‘My Goodness Bag’ prototype—an innovative take on the traditional food bank donation. After researching their end users’ needs and trialling their ideas through taste-testing and feedback, students designed and packaged complete food bags containing carefully selected ingredients, equipment, and an easy-to-follow recipe card. These thoughtful bundles are destined for families supported by De Paul House, providing families with everything they need to create a nutritious meal, or festive dessert together.

This project has encouraged students to think creatively, refine practical skills, and consider the impact of good design. We are incredibly proud of their creativity and the way they thoughtfully incorporated principles of manaakitanga and kaitiakitanga into their product design to serve and uplift our wider community.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to De Paul House for partnering with us and entrusting our students with this meaningful opportunity to support families in the local Auckland community.
