Student Receives Top Volunteer Award

Caitlyn Beckett (Year12) Receives the Top Volunteer Award – from the SVA Service Award Programme
The Student Volunteer Army (SVA) began after Christchurch’s devastating earthquake in September 2010.  University student Sam Johnson formed the ‘Student base for earthquake clean up’ as a group to clean up the city, and then continued on with other leaders to form the ‘Student Volunteer Army’.  Every year ‘Top Volunteers’ are recognised for the most hours recorded and this year we are delighted to congratulate Caitlyn Beckett for her outstanding amount of 250 service hours.
The SVA is a service programme separate to Carmel and is free for students to join.  It is a great way for you to record all of your time devoted to volunteering in and out of school. If you would like more information please see google classroom or email agarrett@carmel.school.nz
