Success for Carmel’s Mooting Team

On Wednesday, 20 October the Carmel College mooting team took part in the Auckland Schools Legal Mooting finals against Diocesan School for Girls.  We won !!

Our team consisted of five Year 13 students (pictured from left): Madison Lockyer, Ella Copley, Amy Usherwood, Luci Hall and Annabel Rhodes. In this final, which was judged by Auckland Law Professor, Mark Henaghan, we acted as the defence in a fictional manslaughter case. We filled the roles of Barrister, Chief and Cross examiners as well as two witnesses. We were super excited to win and hope to see a Carmel team compete next year as the competition is set to grow.
