The University of Otago has been running a Junior Mathematics Competition for many years across New Zealand. In 2023, 117 schools took part.
34 Carmel College students from Years 9 to 11 sat the first part of the online competition in April.
Six girls were selected to take part in the second section of the competition in May and they all received excellent results overall:
- Distinction (Top 15% in their year level): Yoana Ho (Year 11), Helena Lee (Year 11), Yu Na Lim (Year 10)
- Merit: Angela Braganza (Year 11), Amber Lynch (Year 9), Romy Lee (Year 10)
