The Year 11 Drama show is just around the corner! This year, we’re bringing you a shortened version of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. This comedy is filled with deception, mistaken identities, love triangles, and plenty of witty banter.
Set in the land of Illyria, the play centers on Viola, who, after being shipwrecked and separated from her twin brother, disguises herself as a man, going by the name Cesario. She quickly becomes entangled in a love triangle alongside the dashing Duke Orsino, whom she (as Cesario) serves, and Lady Olivia, whom Orsino is trying to woo. In the disguise of a man, Viola struggles to conceal her love for her master. Meanwhile, Olivia falls for ‘Cesario’, leading to hilarious confusion.
Adding to the chaos, within Olivia’s house reside the tricksters Sir Toby Belch and Sir Andrew Aguecheek, who, with Olivia’s cunning maid, Maria, set out to teach the pompous and self-important Malvolio a lesson.
With its hilarious mix of love, confused identities, and trickery, Year 11’s Twelfth Night is sure to have you laughing all the way to the final twist!
