With the busy morning and afternoon traffic around Carmel College, we ask all parents, caregivers, staff and students to take extra care when travelling, dropping off and collecting students on Shakespeare Road.
Please check the signs carefully
Auckland Transport is actively monitoring Shakespeare Road, including the bus and transit lanes, and issuing infringement notices for incorrect use.
Please be aware that:
- Some areas on the school side of Shakespeare Road are bus-stop only during the morning and afternoon.
- Areas marked P2 are limited to 2 minutes for drop-off and pick-up only, and drivers must remain with their vehicle.
- Dropping off or parking in an incorrect zone may result in a $100 fine.
Where possible, students are encouraged to travel by bus, bike or on foot. If you need to drive, please consider dropping your child a short distance from school in a safe, legal location and allowing them to walk the remaining few minutes.
T2 Transit Lane
CCTV monitoring is now operating on the T2 Transit Lane outside Carmel College.
The T2 lane operates:
Monday–Friday | 6:30am–10:00am
The lane is designed to keep people moving efficiently during the morning peak by encouraging carpooling and higher-occupancy travel.
If you are using the T2 lane, please ensure you follow the road rules. You may only enter a bus or transit lane for up to 50 metres before turning left, entering a driveway or leaving the road. You cannot use the lane to bypass queued traffic and then merge back into general traffic.
The infringement fee for illegally using the T2 lane is $150.
Please help us keep Shakespeare Road safe
Traffic around the College is particularly busy at drop-off and pick-up times. Taking a few extra moments to check the signs, use the correct stopping areas and follow the transit lane rules will help keep our students and wider community safe — and avoid unnecessary fines.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep Shakespeare Road safe and moving.
