Parent Daughter Breakfast

It was an early start for some of our students on Thursday 23 March as they proudly brought their parents along to Carmel’s Parent Daughter Breakfast.

More than 170 people packed out the school hall after being greeted by our Head Girls, Shana and Skyler on arrival.  Guests enjoyed mixing and mingling, before taking their seats for coffee and breakfast, which thanks to Bakers Delight Milford’s sponsorship, included a freshly baked bap filled with delicious warm streaky bacon.

The tables were made all the more beautiful by Carmel mum, Syd Hansen’s stunning floral arrangements which parents were lucky enough to purchase and take home at the end.  Our guests also enjoyed grazing on pastries and fruit, hydrating themselves with HBay Artesian Water gifted by New World Milford, all while being served by our senior students and PTFA representatives, who did a stellar job.

Spot and Raffle prizes made it a very lucky day for several of our parents and students, by winning either a $200 Facial Treatment, donated by Facetime Skin Clinic Milford, copies of Karin’s book donated by Paperplus Takapuna, a Hansens Flower Trader Bouquet or an Easter Chocolate Basket brimming with goodies!

Inspiring guest speaker, Karin Horen talked to the audience about her life journey and shared powerful examples of how growth and resilience can help you face and overcome some of life’s greatest challenges.  Karin also shared her tool box of life skills and tips that both students and parents can put into practice for achieving their goals and full potential.  There were many touching moments, including Karin asking all the girls to give their parents a hug, as that is what she most desperately missed when in hospital recovering from breast cancer surgery.  The school is very grateful to Karin for her time, wisdom and meaningful words during the Breakfast.

The PTFA also want to also pass on a huge thank you to all the local Milford and Takapuna businesses that helped the school fundraise at this event – Facetime Skin Clinic, Bakers Delight, New World and Paperplus, and to Karin Horen and Hansens Flower Trader for their generosity too.

The funds raised from this event will go towards two $1000 bursary scholarships awarded at senior prizegiving later this year.

Please help the PTFA thank our sponsors for their support by thinking of them when you next need these types of products and services.  Here are links to their businesses:
