Football End of Season
It has been a very successful year so far for Carmel College Football. Our Premier 1st XI recently won the APC Auckland A1 final v Epsom Girls Grammar winning 2-0. We had 9 girls featured in the 1st XI who last year lost in the final to Westlake girls for the Junior Auckland premier competition. It has shown a great pathway for our girls from Junior Football to premier sports. To make the final we fought off last year’s winners Avondale College 6-0. We then went away to a rainy Howick College for the semi final who previously beat us in the league, We ran out 4-1 winners to take us to the final where we beat Epsom to take home the trophy.
This year was the first year we entered our 2nd XI into the North Harbour A2 league. We entered them to offer development and experience as a bridge from Junior to Senior football. The girls had a great season with lords of learnings and no doubt will put them in good stead for future teams.
Our Junior B team had its most successful season to date. Finishing 4th in the North Harbour Junior B league. Only a couple of wins from top spot. Coach Lucas Kale did a great job in leading the girls with great training and commitment. Well done all.
Netball End of Season
It has been an outstanding season of netball for Carmel College! Our Premier team led the way by taking an impressive 2nd place in the Premier grade—a historic achievement as Carmel hasn’t had a team reach the Premier final since 2017.
Across all year groups, it has been a successful year with a large number of teams finishing in the top four of their respective grades.
Key Team Highlights:
- Senior College (16 Teams): Carmel 2 finished 4th in College 1, Carmel 10, 13 & 16 – 1st in their respective grades, along with Carmel 6 finishing 2nd in their grade.
- Year 9 (6 Teams): Carmel 9/1 finished 4th in Grade 1.
- Year 8 (8 Teams): Carmel 8/1 won 1st Place in Grade 2, and Carmel 8/6 claimed 2nd Place in Grade 8.
- Year 7 (8 Teams): Carmel 7/1 secured 2nd Place in Grade 2, and Carmel 7/5 took 2nd Place in Grade 7.

Finally, we want to acknowledge and celebrate our departing Year 13 students. Thank you for everything you have contributed to Carmel Netball over the years. We wish you all the very best for your next steps; we hope you continue to play netball and look back at your time on the court for Carmel with a smile and fond memories!
Hockey End of Season
- Premier 1st XI: Navigated a tough competition in the new A1 College Sport Auckland grade format for the entire season, fighting hard to secure an impressive 5th place overall. The team is now shifting focus and gearing up for their week-long tournament at North Harbour next week.
- 2nd XI: Showed fantastic momentum throughout the year, and we wish them luck for the North Harbour Grade 2 Final tonight (Thursday).
- 3rd XI: Wrapped up their season finishing 6th place in Grade 4. Heavily featured with Year 13 players, this team embodied the true spirit of Carmel sport with a season full of enjoyment and social fun.
- Year 7/8 Team: Focused strongly on fundamental skill development and tactical growth this year, earning a commendable 4th place finish in Grade 1.
A massive thank you to all the coaches, managers, parents, and supporters who kept the turf buzzing every week.
470 World Sailing Championships
Tessa and her crew (Will Mason) finished 42nd overall at the 470 World Championships, competing in one of the strongest fleets the 470 class has seen in recent years, with multiple former Olympic and World Champions taking part in the event.
Unfortunately, they narrowly missed securing a place in the Gold Fleet following the two-day qualifying series. However, racing in the Silver Fleet, they finished the regatta on a high note, recording one race win and two third-place finishes, to place 5th in the Silver Fleet and 42nd overall. They were also the top Australasian team at the Championships and probably the youngest team to compete at the Worlds. 2026 470 Class World Championship
