Last week four Carmel teams competed in the Auckland Mathex competition for Year 9 and 10. Mathex is a math competition focused on quickly answering questions and agility where schools from around Auckland compete against each other. The teams consisted of two year 9 teams and two year 10 teams (each team has four people including one runner). You have thirty minutes to answer twenty questions, which increase in difficulty. Although this may sound like a lot, I can guarantee that the competition is one-hundred percent rewarding and is an amazing way of getting involved in our Carmel Community. Mathex is a very rewarding experience; I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to test their math knowledge out in a new and exciting way! Lastly, a huge shoutout to Ms Roser who helps out with Mathex.
