Carmel College is a leading Catholic integrated school for girls in Years 7–13, located on Auckland’s North Shore. We are seeking two energetic, motivated, and organised Sports Coordinators to join our Sports Department. These roles are central to supporting, promoting, and developing sport across the college, from grassroots participation through to competitive sports pathways.
The successful applicants will report to the Director of Sport while working collaboratively with the Carmel Heads of Sport, Sports Council, and the wider school community. They will play a pivotal role in enhancing sporting opportunities, increasing student participation, and improving performance across a variety of sports.
Hours of Work
- 35 hours per week, term time only
- Due to the nature of the role, hours are flexible and will include some early mornings, evenings, weekends and term breaks to support trainings, tournaments, and game nights.
Key Responsibilities:
Sports Development & Performance
- Develop and support the Sports Enhancement Programme
- Manage an agreed portfolio of sports across the winter and summer sports seasons
- Oversee sports-specific uniform and equipment allocations
Student Leadership & Engagement
- Oversee the Carmel student coaches and provide development opportunities
- Support and supervise the Sports Council and their lunchtime activities
- Develop strategies to boost student participation in sports and physical activities
Community and Public Relations
- Enhance relationships with parents, local sports clubs, and community partners
- Foster a strong sense of school pride and community involvement through the coordination of sports initiatives.
School Sports Events
- Assist with planning and delivery of whole school sports events, i.e., Athletics Day, Swimming Sports, Sports Awards Evening
- Support organisation and management of Winter and Summer Tournament week, plus the Y7/8 AIMS Games event
- Coordinate and run after-school social leagues
Skills and Attributes:
- Passionate about sport and youth development
- Organised, reliable, and proactive
- Strong communication skills, able to build positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community partners
- Flexible team players, willing to take responsibility across a range of sports and activities
- Experienced in sports coordination, coaching, or administration (preferred but not essential)
