On the 19th of August, six Carmel year 12 students, Alex Mills, Anahera Dickson, Charlotte Behrent, Eliza Arsena, Maya Timlin, and Romy Lee, travel to the Unitech wharenui in Mount Albert. Along with various other religious schools in Auckland, we participated in a day of learning about leadership and diversity.
The day started with a powhiri and we later heard speeches from different students about contemporary issues and religious responses to them. We got to know students from the other schools like Marist College and Zayed College for Girls through discussions and group work throughout the day.
This was a fun and beneficial day for us as year twelves going into year thirteen as it taught new leadership skills and the importance of morals and values in our everyday lives.
