We are thrilled to celebrate Year 13 student Amber Lee, who has been named one of only two winners of the prestigious RANZCOG Liam and Frankie Davison Award 2025 for her essay “The Crab at Our Door.”
Amber’s work was praised as “beautifully written… creative, informative and hopeful,” with judges commending her powerful storytelling and personal insight. This award, offered by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, honours young writers across Aotearoa and Australia and recognises excellence in thought-provoking writing on women’s health.
Amber now joins the legacy of this special award, established in memory of author Liam Davison and his wife Frankie, a passionate secondary school educator dedicated to inspiring young writers. As part of the prize, Amber will receive $1,000 NZD, and her essay will soon be featured by RANZCOG.
Congratulations, Amber — we are incredibly proud of your outstanding achievement and your voice as a young writer and advocate.
