New Zealand Kayaking Team Selection 

Past student, Greer Morley, has been selected for 2026 Canoe Sprint World Cups in Europe and is to compete at two World Cups in Hungary and Germany as part of the Olympic qualification pathway, an exciting step towards her long term goal of competing at the Olympic Games. Congratulations Greer!

 

 

North Island Secondary School Athletics Championships

Congratulations to Lily-Mae Connell and Ava Samuels for their selection to represent North Harbour at the North Island Secondary Schools Athletics Championships

Ava Samuels took out the top spot, winning the Senior Girls pole vault with a superb height of 2.55m. A fantastic achievement.

 

3×3 Basketball Championship

Winners of the Open Girls division at Bruce Pullman. Congratulations to Ella Drake, Eden Drake, Miller Lodewyks and Shiloh Juntilla. Awesome team effort throughout the tournament. 

 

Waterpolo National Tournament 

5th place at the 2026 Secondary Schools Nationals. Marking the school’s strongest result since 2019 and the perfect finisher to a strong season for the team

We give a heartfelt farewell to our five Year 13 players – Lola Ferens, Isobel Houliston, Bridget Mihaljevich, Charlotte Houliston, and Antonia Yarrell-Stevenson. You’ve all been in it from the beginning and it’s been a pleasure to watch you grow over these years. 

Bridget, Isobel, and Antonia also each reached the milestone of 100 premier games for Carmel at this tournament

Farewell to our manager, Rob Mihaljevich who departs after 11 seasons of service, his long-term commitment to strengthening Carmel Waterpolo is truly appreciated.

Thank you also to coach Dylan Smith, assistant Sarah Stewart and the family and supporters backing this team along the way

 

Volleyball Tournament 

Congratulations to the Carmel Senior Volleyball team, after a week away in Palmerston North at Secondary Schools Nationals they won Silver in the Division 2 final, placing 18th overall in New Zealand. 

The biggest thank you and farewell must go to coach Junitta Moa, manager Maylene Tibbotts and Y13 Captain Zahara Tibbotts. The three of you have given so much to Carmel Volleyball over the last 8+ years  

 

 

Aotearoa Māori Netball National Tournament

Luci Dukic (Year 8, Ngāti Kahungunu) played for the U13 Poi Tarawhiti o Te Raki Paewhenua (Harbour Māori) team. Emily Meale (Year 12, Ngāti Pakau) and Kirra Redfern-Hardisty (Year 13, Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara) represented the U17 Tāmaki-Makau-Rau (Auckland Māori) team, finishing second in their grade and earning the Overall Aggregate Winners award. Kirra was also named Most Improved U17 Tāmaki-Makau-Rau player

 

 

Sqaush 

Yila van Loggerenberg was selected as the number 1 seeded U17 girls squash player for the recent Auckland Junior Quads team. She won all three of her matches and for R1 was the MVP as she won against an A2 player and she is a B1 currently. Overall, the Auckland team walked away the winners of the Quadrangulars for 2026.  The Squash Junior Quadrangular is an annual premier representative squash tournament in New Zealand.
