Our school will hold our annual week-long celebration of our rich tapestry of culture here at Carmel next week. There will be Atawhai and lunchtime activities aimed at learning new languages, exploring cultural diversity at Carmel and of course giving everyone a chance to share their own culture and traditions.
Despite the teacher strike day, we will be proceeding with our Wednesday evening cultural festivities!
🎟 Event Details
- Date: Wednesday, 20 August
- Cultural Food Stalls: 5:00pm – 6:30pm
- Concert Performances: 6:30pm – 8:00pm
Because of the uncertainty of numbers due to the strike, we are requesting pre-orders for the larger food items. We have a variety of cultural dishes available for purchase on the Carmel Shop and there will also be desserts and drinks can be purchased ( cash or eftpos) on the night.
- Tickets: $5 – available now in the Carmel Shop. Everyone is encouraged to bring their friends along and enjoy the show!
Then, on Friday is “Culture Day”, be sure to come along to our cultural games on the top courts. House points are up for grabs for the winning house. As Friday is the last day of the week, we want everyone to come dressed in “Around the World” themed dress. You are welcome to wear the traditional or national clothing of a country/culture you identify with or have learnt about during the week.
Our aim is to allow everyone within our school to feel comfortable and confident enough to share and express their own ethnic background/identity while learning more about others around them and our great big world!
