In term 2 our Year 7 students raised over $10,700 for the Heart Foundation through the Jumping June skipping event. This great cause raises money for research into heart disease, medical treatment and education for prevention of heart disease. Based on the funds raised last year, we set our goal at $8000, and went well past this!
To support this cause, all Year 7 participated in a skipping competition. Students were at different levels of skipping skills, but the performances were enthusiastically participated in by all. The competition had three class awards up for grabs: Best Dressed, Best Skipping Skillset, and Highest Fundraising! Our three judges, Liz Walker; Claire Magness, and Miles Palmer, had to collaborate and work hard to find a winner.
Each class performed a great routine and wore different costumes, matching with their music and theme. All the classes had their own unique skipping act. From 7KDU with ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’, to 7ABR with their very own ‘Rasputin’, the creativity was high!
All performances were clearly well coordinated and took weeks to choreograph and practise. 7KTH won Best Dressed with their tie dyed t-shirts. 7JGR won Best Skipping Skillset. 7ABR were the highest fundraisers, and will receive a pizza lunch reward in term 3.
Well done Year 7!
