As the Music Department gear up for the NZ Chamber Music Contest and The Big Sing festival in the coming weeks, two performances took place as part of the group’s preparations.
On Sunday four chamber groups along with the Carmel String Ensemble, presented an afternoon concert for parents and friends in the Music Department. It was wonderful to hear the amazing progress of all the ensembles, and for the girls to practice some of the smaller details such as how to bow together.
On Monday afternoon, Capriccio, the newly-named girls choir for Year 9-13 students, walked around to Lady Allum Village to present a short concert for some of the residents. It was hugely beneficial for the girls to present their three competition pieces to an appreciative audience, before they step out next week in the Choral Concert at Rosmini College, and then at The Big Sing Auckland regional festival on the 16th June. There were also some solo and duet performances from a few of the girls within the choir – well done girls!
Thank you to Mrs Brokelbank, Mr Lovie and Mr Howell for their hard work with these ensembles – we look forward to updating you on how all the performances went at the end of the term.
