The aim of the Passionate Enhanced Learning Programme at Carmel College is to provide out of class opportunities to students who are passionate about certain areas of the curriculum, enabling them to pursue personal excellence.
During the July holidays, Chloe Yang (Year 7) kept busy by taking up an opportunity to enter The Bolt of Cloth Textile Design Awards for 2021. Bolt of Cloth is a Home Goods store in Christchurch who are famous for their cushion cover range. The Bolt of Cloth Textile Design Award was set up in 2013 with the intention to support talented creatives and get their designs into the marketplace. The winning designs are digitally printed and made into cushion covers. These are sold in-store and online with the artist receiving commission. This competition is mainly entered by adults so it was amazing to see that Chloe had been chosen as one of 12 finalists whose four cushion designs (pictured above) have been entered into the People’s Choice Awards.
