Term two has been a busy one for the Music Department 🎶
In week 5 our two choirs sang at the Rosmini Choral Concert in preparation for The Big Sing, which took place, at the Auckland Town Hall last Thursday, 12th June. Both Carmelites (Carmel’s auditioned Girls choir) and Carmini (combined with Rosmini College) did themselves proud on the Town Hall stage, singing songs in a range of styles. Our thanks to their musical director, Mr Robert Howell for all his work preparing the girls for these performances.
On Friday 6th June, after many hours of rehearsal and preparation, three ensembles took part in the Chamber Music Contest, held at the Raye Freedman Arts Centre in Epsom. The girls represented both themselves and Carmel with pride, giving accomplished performances of challenging repertoire. Thanks to Mrs Beverley Brockelbank, who helped to prepare the girls for this contest.
The ensembles were:
- Claude Horde – Zoe Gan (violin), Valerie Vink (violin), Susie Yu (piano)
- Doppler Trio – Felicity Fang (flute), Yu Na Lim (piano), Viola Lu (flute);
- Three Lees – Amber Lee (piano), Helena Lee (clarinet), Romy Lee (violin)
