As our senior students prepare for their upcoming NZQA examinations, we would like to remind families of a few important arrangements for the practice exams. These will take place between Monday 12th and Friday 16th October.
Exams will begin at 9.00am or 1.00pm and will run for either two or three hours. Students are asked to be onsite and ready to line up 15 minutes before their exam begins.
Attendance will be taken at the start of each examination. If your daughter is unable to attend, we would appreciate parents and caregivers reporting her absence through SchoolBridge, as you would for any other school absence.
The information that has been shared with the students about the exams is here.
We encourage students to remain for the full duration of their practice exams and to attempt as many of the examination papers as they can. Carmel College expects students to attend and sit all examinations they are entered for, and this expectation also applies to the NZQA examinations at the end of the year.
We are particularly mindful this year that there has been a significant amount of sickness in our community, including influenza. The practice examinations therefore provide an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning and, if necessary, may be used to support the determination of a derived grade should a student be unable to sit an NZQA examination at the end of the year.
For this reason, it is important that students make every effort to attend and attempt their practice examinations. If a student does not attempt a particular examination paper during the practice exams, we will not be able to provide a derived grade for that paper should one be required.
Thank you for your support in encouraging your daughter to be prepared, attend her examinations, and make the most of this valuable opportunity to practise and demonstrate her learning.
