Carmel Basketball at the 2026 Northern Championships
The team wrapped up their season last week, finishing in 10th place overall out of 12 teams with 2 wins and 4 losses (including two incredibly close battles).
While this result unfortunately leaves them just outside of qualification for the New Zealand Nationals, the girls played with huge heart every single game and finished the week with full smiles.
We now farewell the Year 13 players who have been in it from the start, Ciara Joseph, Ella Drake, Kirra Redfern-Hardisty, Leighton Esera, and Zahara Tibbotts. Thank you for your leadership and that passion you have contributed to Carmel basketball

Carmel Netball at the Upper North Island Tournament 2026
With 5 wins and 5 losses, the team finished 14th in A Grade out of 128 competing teams. They truly punched well above their weight all week, with every single loss coming down to the smallest of margins!

Carmel Netball says farewell to our four Year 13 Senior 1 players: Bella Murphy, Kirra Redfern-Hardisty, Isobel Houliston, and Anahera Dickson; as well as Ciara Joseph from Senior 2, and Millie Yates, Charlotte Houliston, Lauren Sargent, and Caitlyn Correa from Senior 3.
We also want to acknowledge our large group of Year 13 players who played socially every Saturday morning or gave back through coaching. May you long continue to play and coach for your own ‘why’. Thank you for being such fantastic role models for our younger players!

Special thanks to coach Miles Palmer and managers Louise Fitzgerald and Rachael Chandler for leading the team through a fantastic week on and off the field, including a busy schedule hitting all the tourism and sightseeing hot spots of Christchurch.

The 1st XI Hockey team spent the week away in North Harbour, 2 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses placed the team 8th overall.
A heartfelt farewell to Year 13 1st XI player Sienna Jordan and our six 3rd XI social players! Thank you for your incredible dedication and everything you’ve given to Carmel Hockey over the years.
Thank you to the 1st Xl coaches Judith Quinlan and Petrea Neal and manager Hollie Miller for this week and the season. We are excited for this coaching duo to continue into 2027.
