Since the beginning of Term 2 six teams have been debating against each other in the Year 7 and 8 Interschool Debating Competition. Every fortnight, teams would debate moots such as ‘We believe the voting age should be lowered to 16’ and ‘This house would ban the consumption of cheese’. Over the course of the Term, we have seen some epic debates and some very promising young debaters who we hope will continue on with debating in their senior years. On Monday, 5 July the final two teams debated each other in the final, and one team became victorious. The winning team named ‘The Goats’ consisted of Romy Lee, Emma Liu, Ella Liu and Anahera Smith-McDaniel. We congratulate them on this wonderful achievement. A big congratulations to all the teams who participated in the competition. We have thoroughly enjoyed seeing your excited faces and listening to your passionate speeches. A big thank you to Mrs Somerville for always helping us out and providing the prizes!
